Girl Skateboards Presents "Nervous Circus"

Four Comic Con attendees face off in the ultimate test of pop-culture knowledge. Hosted by fan-favorite Bruce Campbell (The Evil Dead, Burn Notice).

Tom is a young man with AIDS living in London with his lover Ira. The disease has exaggerated Toms nervous energy and in his manic state he suddenly decides to go to Glasgow to visit the family he hasn't seen in ten years. His brother Ian is thoroughly disgusted by his lifestyle and only his mother shows any compassion for him. The visit soon develops into a nightmare as dementia sets in and Tom's health rapidly declines. Finally, events come to a head and Ira has no choice but to force Tom back to London, where he expects him to die at any time. After treatment, Tom gets a brief reprieve, having discovered that his real family is his adopted one in London.

A comedy about a man (Bill Pullman), who is on the run after his mistress (Julie Brown) confesses to her husband (Peter Boyle) that the two of them have been having an affair.

Henry Williams, out in Arizona looking for a cure for his imaginary ills, stops at the ranch of Jud Morgan, and decides to stay. Jud's daughter, Sally, attracts his attention, although she is engaged to be married to Sheriff Bob Wells. Henry rides with her to town, where she wants to go shopping for her wedding clothes, but they run out of gas. No, problem' Henry holds up a passing motorist, with a monkey-wrench, and takes gasoline out of his car. They stop at a ranch where the foreman makes them become the cook and dishwasher. Then Jerome Underwood and his daughter, Harriet, arrive and they recognize Henry and Sally as the ones who held them up for gas. The jealous sheriff adds to the complications.

17-year-old Carlota is in love with an athlete named Oriol but discovers sex with Sergio, every mother's ideal son-in-law. Carlota is in big trouble but neither her parents (who are separating) nor her best friends (Elisa and Mirea) can help her. Among other reasons, because Elisa disguises herself as a boy so she can get close to Lucas, who she is madly in love with, and because Mirea intends to seduce young Oriol, thus betraying her best friend.

Shekharan is a young vibrant guy who has returned back to India from the USA. Though he is driven to chase his dream of setting up a factory with his friend, destiny alters his plan and he ends up managing a circus troupe, when his father, the circus owner, falls sick. The highly popular TV series of the 90s, setup in a circus backdrop, follows lives of the artists of the troupe, unravelling different shades of characters, as they struggle with the tricky yet very realistic situations, life throws on them. Circus connects with the audience for its strong storytelling spun of the fundamental human emotions churned out from the harsh realities of life.

I have little recollection of filming this except for reacting with a kind of instinctive horror to the subjugation of these large animals, and to some extent the people, to tawdry entertainment. It was a small, shabby, improvised outdoor circus somewhere in Long Island under harsh lights at night. Even back then, it was rare to find such a display without camp or self-recognition of any kind.
